Kids explore 'mighty trucks'
Penny CoLes Niagara Advance Archer, Parker and Owen Henry visited the Mighty Trucks show in the parking lot of the NOTL Public Library Saturday and sat in the Virgil station's 1953 pumper. The brothers had a great time ringing the bell on the old pumper, which was one of several emergency vehicles on display for kids to enjoy. MORE PLANTS! MORE VARIETY! MOST VALUE! Local fundraising for new hospital continues
Local goal hasn't been reached, but it will be, says co-chair
Penny Coles Niagara Advance Donna Scott hasn't quit. The co-chair for the Niagara-on-the-Lake arm of the new St. Catharines Hospital fundraising committee is still working at achieving the local target of $2.8 million, and is confident that the goal is within reach. Last Thursday a celebration was held to mark the success of the It's Our Time Campaign, which has raised more than $40.8 million, surpassing its $40-million goal to help equip the new hospital. The hospital is scheduled to open early spring, 2013, but equipment must be purchased and installed by this November to give all staff an opportunity to become familiar with the new setting.
