Friends of Laura Secord ready to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the famous walk that helped shape history

Penny Coles Niagara Advance Joining what could be as many as a thousand people celebrating the 200th anniversary of the morning Laura Secord walked out her door to deliver her famous message to warn British troops of an enemy attack, Laureen Harper, wife of the prime minister, local MP and Minister of Justice Rob Nicholson, and veteran broadcaster Valerie Pringle will be walking through history Saturday. Everyone who registers for the walk before 9 a.m. Saturday morning will leave by the same door through which Secord began her famous trek, says Caroline McCormick, president of the Friends of Laura Secord and organizer of the event, more than two years in the making.
